A man was Monday refused bail on a charge of stealing a motor car that was outside the ownerâs residence and taking it to Buxton, East Coast Demerara.,Mortimer Chand was ordered to return to court on July 4, 2014.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, the accused pleaded not guilty to a charge that he stole one Mazda motorcar, PPP 5782, on June 11, 2014.
The car is owned by Ivor Allicock.
The prosecutionâs facts are that Allicock parked his car in front of his yard and went to bed. When he woke the next morning, he realised that the car was missing.
Police later found the car in Buxton. Police Prosecutor, Bharat Mangru said Chand admitted to committing the offence in a caution statement.
