Escapee gets 12 months jail

The prisoner, who escaped from the Providence Police Station lock-up Sunday night, was Tuesday jailed for 12 months. He is 29-year old Lennox Cort of 60 Hadfield Street, Georgetown. A man, who was arrested in connection with an alleged assault, escaped from the Providence Police Station lock-up  Sunday night and he was later recaptured, police sources confirmed. Guyanese injured in serious accident in Suriname

A Guyanese man is among five persons seriously injured in an accident in neighbouring Suriname, the Surinamese online newspaper,Starnieuws, reported.
