In the latest of what appears to be a series of violent domestic disputes at Port Kaituma, North West District, a man late Sunday night allegedly burnt down his house after a quarrel with his wife.

Initial reports are that the woman, Evelyn “Rasta Evelyn”Williams, claimed that the man, Eustace Simon, set the house ablaze after yet another disagreement.  Neither the woman nor her four children was injured.

Eyewitnesses said the one flat house was viurtually destroyed by the fire that began about 10:30 OM. Police were searching for the alleged perpetrator.

Well-placed sources said the police have received complaints from Rasta Evelyn in the past about domestic violence that has been meted out to her at the hands of Simon. He was charged a few weeks ago with assaulting the woman and granted GUY$40,000 bail.

Residents formed a bucket brigade to douse the flames with little success.

Sunday night’s incident is reminiscent of the March 14, 2014 incident in which businessman, Lenus La Cruz burnt down his house and business with his wife and four of their children inside. He eventually succumbed to serious burns about his body.

And on April 21,2014, 62-year old Victor Perez shot dead his 39-year old wife, Pamela Martin, before turning the improvised shotgun on himself.
