Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon on Thursday announced that he is suffering from gastro-intestinal cancer and that it has spread to his lungs.He made the announcement at a news briefing on his third day back at his desk after being on sick leave for the past three months.
Luncheon later told Demerara Waves that he was diagnosed with the malignant disease in June, 2013.
He said he opted not to undergo surgery. Luncheon,65, said he has begun fast-tracking transitionary arrangements to other officials. He is also Cabinet Secretary, Secretary to the Defence Board and Chairman of the Board of the National Insurance Scheme.
“I have taken a decisoin not to do anythoing of an interventionalist nature. That is what I want and that is what I’lm abiding by,” he told reporters.
