A man under whose car was found a grenade four years ago is now wanted in connection with cocaine found at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport earlier this month.
The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU) identified the man as Tarachandra Persaud also known as Doce and Dos of Republic Park, East Bank Demerara.
The agency hopes that the man would surrender within the next six days. Persaud is the second person placed on its wanted list for the cocaine-in-achar find on February 8. The other is Danw Roberts who is a shopkeeper on North Road, Lacytown.
CANU also noted that Persaud was recently he was charged by the police for discharging a firearm in front of Palm Court and he was released on court bail. Back in August 2009,Persaud had reported that while driving out of his residence he had heard an unusual sound coming from under the vehicle. On checking, police reported, the man observed a fragmentation grenade attached to the vehicle.
The anti-drug agents in February 8 arrested an elderly man and model for a total of 20 kilogrammes of cocaine that were allegedly concealed in achar.
78-year old Winston Blades of 121 Meadow Brook Gardens, Georgetown and 38-year old Sadika Leona Odie of 138 Thomas Street, Kitty, Georgetown have been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
