Two men were killed in a tragic accident on the West Bank Demerara when the wagon they were travelling in slammed into a parked low bed trailer.
One of the occupants neck was severed in the smash-up at Canal Number Two Polder. Preliminarily, Demerara Waves Online News was told that the men were imbibing earlier in the evening.
The accident occurred about 7:45 PM. Eyewitnesses said the low bed was parked off the road but the Fielder wagon drove into it nevertheless.
Their identities have not been provided but DemWaves understands that the first name of one the victims is Roy, a former bus conductor. The other one man lived at Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara.
Their deaths bring to three the number of reported road deaths for Saturday, the one being Collis ‘Tom’ Mentis of Linden. Police said he lost control of the Tundra and drove overboard while crossing the Linden-Mackenzie Bridge.
