Moblissa double murder accused arraigned

A 20-year old man was Wednesday arraigned for the double murder of a woman and her son at Moblissa.

Orin Rodrigues was not required to plea to the indictable offence when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

He is accused of the murder of 33-year old Molly James and her on 15-year old Aaron James during the early hours of November 30.

Rodrigues has been remanded to prison until January 8.

The incident occurred at Moblissa, Soesdyke-Linden Highway after the woman reported to the police that Rodrigues had allegedly raped her 13-year old daughter on November 28 while she was washing clothes at a creek.

Police believed that Rodrigues later heard of the report made and in retaliation allegedly broke into Molly James’ home where he attacked and fatally stabbed her. Her 15-year-old son went to her assistance and was also fatally stabbed.

The 13-year-old daughter and some other siblings and relatives managed to escape into the bushes and were later relocated.
