A man was shot Friday when he pulled at a firearm that was in possession of a policeman who is his friend.
Injured is 50-year old Morris Porter of Laluni Street, Queenstown. He was struck to his left side. He has been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Guyana Police Force spokesman, Ivelaw Whittaker said that about 1:05 PM, armed police ranks were on a motor vehicle patrol on Craig Street, Campbellville, Georgetown, when Porter, who is a friend of one of the police ranks, went up to the vehicle and engaged in a conversation with the rank.
Investigators were told that Porter began to “play around” with the rank and pulled at his firearm.
“In efforts by the rank to secure the firearm, a round was accidentally discharged” which struck the man, police said.
