One Brazilian and two Guyanese narrowly escaped death Tuesday evening when a truck slammed into a car at Port Kaituma, North West District.
Those seriously injured are Andy Williams,25, his reputed wife 41-year old Juliet Seecharran and a Brazilian woman, 21-year old Rayana Boguevia. The Brazilian and her husband were on a motorcycle when they were hit by the car that toppled at least three times, according to Williams.
Williams’ stepdaughter, Naomi Seecharran, was not transported to Georgetown and she remained a patient at the Port Kaituma Hospital. The car driver escaped unhurt, said Williams who hails from Wauna, North West District.
Williams told reporters that he and his family began their journey from Providence and eventually boarded a car for their last leg of the journey to Port Kaituma when a truck rammed the car from behind.
The accident occurred about 6 PM at Four Miles Port Kaituma.
He said visibility was extremely poor because the road was very dusty. Williams said the car was damaged beyond repair and it was a mystery how he exited the vehicle. “I stamp out the car. I don’t know how I got the strength,” he said.
Williams said the truck drove away from the scene and he was unsure if it was held later.
