The gunning down of an n Essequibo businesswoman and serious injury to her husband appeared to have been a “hit” rather than a robbery, according to investigators.
Deputy Police Commissioner, Seelall Persaud confirmed that no one was robbed during the late night shooting death of Shelly Basir-Lall. Her husband ,Raymond Lall, was discharged from a private hospital Sunday. He sustained gunshot injuries to his abdomen and one to a lower limb. Their employee remains hospitalized.
Investigators have collected several spent 9MM shells from the scene- Mambo’s Bar on Barr Street just of Lamaha Street, Kitty.
Persons claiming to be eyewitnesses said the assailants arrived in a white car, shot the trio and fled the scene.
Persaud, who is Guyana’s Chief of Criminal Investigations, said no one was detained or arrested in connection with this latest gun-attack on business owners.
