A Caribbean Airlines (CAL) cargo flight made precautionary landing at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) because of a reported fire in the wheel well, sources said.
ABX Air, CAL’s cargo flight, departed CJIA at 10:52 AM destined for Trinidad’s Piarco International Airport.
Flight number CAL 973 reported that there was fire in the wheel well at 10:56 and by 11:02 the plane had already touched down at the airport.
On landing, fire fighters were on standby but did not go into action because no smoke or fire was seen. In the end, it just turned out to be a cockpit indication of a fire, sources said.
Engineers began examing the plane.
