Police sau they are nvestigating the discovery of 36 pounds of suspected cocaine at Richmondville, Providence, East Bank Demerara.
The Guyana Police Force said the seizure was made on Sunday September 27, 2026, at Richmondville, Providence, East Bank Demerara
During the operation, police said they intercepted a motor vehicle driven by a 44-year-old miner, who was the sole occupant.
“A search of the vehicle was conducted, during which ranks found two bags containing frozen fish in the trunk. Further examination revealed several parcels containing a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine concealed inside the fish,” police said in a statement.
The man was arrested and escorted to the Criminal Investigations Departme t Headquarters along with the suspected narcotics and motor vehicle.
A total of 15 parcels containing the suspected cocaine were recovered from the frozen fish. The suspected cocaine was weighed and amounted to 36 pounds before being lodged, police added.
The suspect remains in Police custody as investigations continue.
