Several companies, including one Guyanese and three pan-Caribbean suppliers of gas, have submitted 10 proposals to build a cooking gas bottling plant in Guyana, according to information from the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB).

They are Guygas, in a joint venture with Denmark’s Makeen Energy and the India-headquartered RAMCO Industries, as well as Massy Gas Products, SOL Guyana Inc and RUBIS Guyana Inc.

Others interested in building the gas bottling plant are the Houston, Texas-headquartered LINDSAYCA which is constructing the 300 megawatt natural gas-fired power plant and natural gas liquids (NGL) plant at Wales, West Bank Demerara, Divyan International Inc.; a joint venture made up of Gate Ventures and Consulting Guyana Inc with Canada’s Propak Systems Limited and Makeen Energy; Colombia’s Gas Zipa SASESP with Fix It Depot and Standard Energy Company; India’s ILF Consulting Engineering Inc. in collaboration with Mahatma Phule Renewable and Infrastructure Technology Limited, and BB Energy (BBE) and Dec Ogeco from Singapore.

Project Lead for the gas-to-energy project, Winston Brassington told the Guyana Energy Conference on Thursday that the plant is expected to bottle 63 million gallons of the cooking fuel annually.
