A 52-year-old man on Friday, who admitted that he was in possession of more than 22 kilogrammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, was on Friday jailed for four years, the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) said.
The anti-drug agency said Dyal Simon was also fined GY$33,951,000 by Magistrate Rhondel Weever at the Wales Magistrate’s Court, West Bank Demerara.
However, his co-accused 41-year-old Adonayi Hoyte pleaded not guilty and was granted GY$200,000.
CANU previously said a vehicle was intercepted on January 14 at La Grange and a search revealed 20 brick-like substances.
