OPINION: Guyana elections raw: screw, grease, erection, in a box

OPINION: Charles Ramson, Jr. for president, not just yet

Screw without grease. Erection. In a box. It’s the new vocabulary of elections in Guyana. There’s something for everyone. Peepshow customers got a free ticket. Those who prefer the scent of violence in the air, instead of the pungent aroma of sex, also got their money’s worth without digging into their pockets. If this is what elections in Guyana are about, then solitary or a chain gang is preferred. The preference is never to read a newspaper, listen to or watch an audio-video of such appalling lewdness, the galloping towards violence.

Someone tried to persuade listening to some elections tape, observing a video. If that’s ever my interest, I know where Times Square is. Here’s something that all Guyanese should get loud and clear. I am no saint, no pilgrim, no holy man. Far from such illustrious humans. I like a good beverage, like to take in the fashions of sophisticated ladies, and love music. But there are some places that I shrink from: pornography in any form is one, with political porn ranking high. Also, there are some citizens with whom I would neither share space nor break bread. The stomach is too weak; the spirit is too uneasy. There is no reason for me to listen to anything from any source, to extract the gist of what was said, meant. Candidly, all that anyone who went to school for a half-year has to do is absorb screw without grease, and erection, and in a box, and they can chair a think-tank on those issues, or write a book. I went to school for half my life, and am still a serious student. Thus, the essentials of screw, grease, erection, and box are all fully understood.

Something else is understood, the stirring language of these 2025 elections has made parliamentary verbal romps relative to ‘dildo’ and ‘sex toys’ and so forth now look and sound as laughable as some prudish ancient teaching, the equivalent of child’s play. By way of establishing a link, the PPP Government and its people are never less than proud to speak at length and remind of what they do “Because we Care”. And how much more of that caring for the children, and working tirelessly to save the children, was prioritized in 2025, if not the last five years. Taking them at their word, then those PPP luminaries should be considerate enough to tell this nation how: 1) screw without grease; 2) erection, as such relates to elections; and 3) in a box, are all about caring for the young children of Guyana. The Guyanese children of tender years and in their formative years. The Guyanese children whose lives have been pierced and haunted, as a matter of daily routine, in that last of precious sanctuaries, their homes, by almost identical language. The kind that is aggressive and abusive. The type where domestic temperatures are always at boiling point, if not actually gushing over in a flow of scalding vitriol and frightening maliciousness. I invite any leader, any minister, in the PPP Government in whose name this volcanic eruption of slime and sleave (screw without grease, erection, and in a box) to inform the Guyanese people, how one new role model has just been found for Guyanese children.

The government warns the children about the danger of gangs, the hollow ‘glama’ of the gangsta lifestyle. Then came what I believe must rank as a startling example of verbal political thuggery “in a box.” I can hear the children in the schoolyards of Guyana putting up their dukes and getting ready to beat the brains of each other out. ‘Want a peece of me, de gun fetch yuh outa heah and deh gun put yuh six-foot aandah.’ This is what “in a box” teaches our children, the example set for them. No question that it is not political porn. But I am struggling to figure out what else it can be, other than probably some not-so-subtle stream of inferred political violence, as incited by cold-blooded political and electoral anger, calculation. The Guyana Government urges Guyana’s children to be peaceful (No to Violence in schools [anywhere]), but there is this sinister mouthful built around “in a box” and all that that could mean. The source is from within the PPP Government, not one of criminal heritage. Though that’s still on shaky ground. In closing, I hear that the prime minister is said to be an honorable man. His extravagant oral sexual experiment in Bath Settlement at a PPP campaign rally now stresses that saying. The others may not know, nor care. Somebody in the PPP should care about the children of Guyana. Whatever the prizes, elections can never be worth jumping off a cliff and into the sewer.
