GDF soldiers allegedly rape 15-year old girl at army base

Last Updated on Saturday, 31 May 2025, 19:57 by Writer

The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) on Saturday confirmed the recovery of the body of Lance Corporal Stefon Tudor from the Cuyuni River that borders Guyana from Venezuela.

“His body was recovered earlier today, approximately 800 meters from the point where he fell,” the Defence Force said in a statement.

A Board of Inquiry has been established and has commenced its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, the Defence Force said.

The GDF said he went missing during a routine riverine patrol on Thursday, May 29, 2025 after he fell overboard in the vicinity of the Makapa Rapids along the Cuyuni River.

Immediate rescue efforts were made by his patrol team, followed by a sustained search operation led by GDF units with support from local partners, the Defence Force said.

Lance Corporal Tudor was attached to 1 Infantry Battalion, and deployed at Location Eteringbang at the time of the incident.

The GDF said he served with professionalism, discipline, and commitment.

The GDF extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues and continues to provide full support to his loved ones during this time of grief.

The Force stands in solidarity with all ranks as they mourn the loss of a soldier who died in the line of duty.
