A construction worker, who allegedly took more than GYD$500,000 from a woman to construct the lower flat of her house but allegedly converted the cash to his own use, was Thursday granted bail when he appeared  before Chief Magistrate, Ann Mc Lennan.

Claudius Peters of 156 First Street, Mocha denied the charges when they were read to him, but said he was willing to repay the total amount of GYD$556,651.22 to Damallie Wilson.

He was granted GYD$50,000 bail and ordered to return to court on April 14, 2017.

Particulars of the offences are that on July 17,2015 in Georgetown , he received GYD$274,151.22 cents from the woman to construct the lower flat of her home.  He also committed a similar offence on August 2, 2015 for the same purpose, but again allegedly converted the money to his own use.
