A 31-year-old man was on Monday sentenced to 9 months in prison after appearing in court for stabbing an 11-year-old boy.

The charge against Carl Anderson Braithwaite is that on September 15, 2016 at Avenue if the Republic, he stabbed the Virtual Complainant (VC), thereby causing actual bodily harm. When it was read to him, the defendant pleaded guilty.

According to the facts presented by Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh, on the day in question, at around 14hrs, the VC was walking along Robb St. when the defendant came up to him from behind and dealt him three stabs. The Prosecutor told the court that the accused is always in the habit of stabbing persons. Braithwaite was subsequently arrested for the crime.

Before handing down the nine months sentence, Magistrate Dylan Bess told the defendant that he cannot go around stabbing persons.
