Long-serving Kaieteur News journalist, Dale Andrews died Saturday morning, co-workers confirmed.

He succumbed to heart and other complications at a city hospital.

Andrews was 45 years old.

Editor-in-Chief of the Kaieteur News, Adam Harris expressed “shock” at the irreplaceable loss of Andrews who called in a news report Friday night although he was on three days sick leave. “Now, there is a big void in the Kaieteur News. He was one of the better reporters. He was also an Assistant Editor and those talents don’t come cheap,” Harris told Demerara Waves Online News.

Andrews began his journalism career at the now defunct Guyana Broadcasting Corporation and then left for the Kaieteur News in the early 2000s where he excelled in the area of crime and security reporting.
