Fourth homicide on Day 2 of 2016

Police are investigating the stabbing death of a man at Greenwich Park, East Bank, Essequibo Village and at Cane Grove Village, East Coast Demerara.

He is Dewan Baksh, 22, years of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo.

Police said he was at the time imbibing at Pink Shop when he and another man were involved in a fracas. In the process, he was stabbed and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Leonora Cottage Hospital.

No one has been arrested.

Investigators were at the scene up to late Saturday morning interview persons and collecting any other evidence.

Police also reported that at about 9:30 PM Friday, December 1, 2016, 20 year old Deolall Deokie of Cane Grove, East Coast Demerara was involved in an altercation with a group of men in a motor vehicle along the roadway at Cane Grove. He was subsequently found on the roadway with injuries and died at the Georgetown Public Hospital while receiving treatment.

No one has been arrested.

The deaths at Greenwich Park and Cane Grove have brought to four the number of reported homicides since the start of 2016.

Two other persons were killed during altercations- one at Crabwood Creek, Corentyne and another at  Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara.
