One dead, two seriously injured in Boxing Day collision

One person was killed and two others seriously injured in an early Boxing Day- Saturday-collision on the West Coast Demerara public road, police said.

Investigators were told that at about 4:40 Saturday morning, December 26, 2015, Dawson Bess, 22 years, of Crane Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara, was driving a motor car along the Ruimzight Public Road, West Coast Demerara, when he attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided with an oncoming motor vehicle.

He received injuries and succumbed later while receiving medical attention at the GPHC.

Godfrey Mounter, 19 years, of Crane, West Coast Demerara, who was in the vehicle, also received injuries and has been admitted to the GPHC.

Eshwar Deochand, 30 years, of La Grange, West Bank Demerara, who was driving the other vehicle in the collision and three-year-old Nayesha Nandalall, who was in the vehicle, received injuries and have been hospitalized.

Four other persons who were in the vehicle were treated and sent away.
