Man wanted for city businessman’s murder

Police are searching for another suspect in the killing of the owner of Hamson’s General Store earlier this year.

Head of the Criminal Investigations Department, Senior Superintendent Wendell Blanhum confirmed that crime sleuths were looking for a second person in connection with the killing of Farouk Hamid earlier this year.

The wanted person has been identified as 20-year old Kemo Tyron Evans whose last known address was Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara or Sophia.

Hamid was killed on April 16, 2015 at his residence, 97 Colin Wood Avenue, Nandy Park, and East Bank Demerara. He owned Hamson’s General Store, Regent Street (between Albert and Oronoque Streets), Georgetown.

Police said anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Evans is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 226-1333, 225-2722, 226-9941, 911 or the nearest police station.

Back in late July, Anthony Rammit of Kaneville, East Bank Demerara was charged with the murder of Hamid.

An autopsy showed that the businessman died of a single stab wound.
