A self-employed beautician, who was heading to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, was arrested Friday evening allegedly with 13 kilogrammes of cocaine on powdered milk, a senior anti-narcotics agent said.
The agent said a taxi was intercepted in the Soesdyke-Timehri area said when the driver and the woman were taken to Georgetown and a further search was carried out, cocaine was also found in false walls of the woman’s bag.
Investigators believe the woman was heading to the airport to board a Fly Jamaica flight to New York.
She told anti-drug agents that she lives in Lamaha Springs, Georgetown.
