Police hope footage can lead to arrest of gay sex worker’s killer

Police were Wednesday afternoon examining footage of an altercation that led to the shooting death of gay sex worker in the city during the pre-dawn hours, police said.

Head of the Criminal Investigations Department, Senior Superintendent Wendell Blanhum told Demerara Waves Online News that no one has been arrested in connection with the incident that occurred in the vicinity of Carmichael and Quamina Streets.

Dead is 20-year old Noel Luther of  D’Urban Street, Georgetown.

Police learnt that at about 2:35 AM on July 22, 2015 he was confronted by two men during which one of them shot him to the chest and they escaped.

Luther was pronounced dead on arrival.

Luther was reportedly killed after one of the men was dissatisfied with the quality of service offered and complained to another man.
