Guyanese nabbed in Brazil with huge marijuana haul

Brazilian police have arrested and charged four persons, including two Guyanese, with trafficking in 25 kilogrammes of marijuana that were seized in the neighbouring Portuguese-speaking republic 

They are former Guyana Defence Force (GDF) soldier Eric Eldon Bobb, 34, Guyanese Clive Lloyd King, 38, Brazilian José Rodrigues Montague, 58, and Marlene Magdalene Romao, 39, a teacher at the Arapaima Primary School.

King, a Region Nine contractor, was previously wanted by Guyanese police in connection with the seizure of a large cache of high-powered weapons that were dug up from a yard in Lethem in October, 2012.

Authorities said they were arrested on Monday, February 16, 2015.

“Our DRE team was already monitoring these people. This is a gang that was bringing drugs from the neighboring country, Guyana and spraying this drug in sales and distribution points in Boa Vista and also often making a corridor to Manaus. We had knowledge that addition of this drug, there are other loads to come to Boa Vista, with other members of this gang and we are ahead investigating, seeking to arrest more people, said
