U.S. Sports Desk, Jan 7 (EFE).- Muhammad Ali has been released from an undisclosed hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, after receiving treatment for a mild case of pneumonia and a serious urinary tract infection, a family spokesman said Wednesday.

The boxing legend, who was hospitalized last month, was discharged on Tuesday night, Bob Gunnell said.

Ali will turn 73 on Jan. 17 and now expects to celebrate that birthday at home with his family.

Previously, World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman said the three-time world heavyweight champion would be released shortly from the medical facility.

Ali’s daughter, Laila, herself a former world champion boxer, also said last week that her father was feeling much better and could be released at any time.

Ali has been seen in public infrequently over the past several years due to his decades-long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

His most recent appearance came last September at the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards, an event held in his hometown of Louisville.
