A former police corporal, who was wanted for the murder of a teenager at Agricola, Greater Georgetown was one of two persons shot and killed by his former colleagues during an armed robbery on the East Coast Demerara on Monday evening.

Dead is 18699 Corporal Warren Blue who was charged for the murder of Shaquille Grant on September 11, 2012. Wanted bulletins had been issued for Blue. With the death of that policeman, it now means that an arrest warrant is still out for 14071 Special Constable Jamal Lewis.

Chief of Criminal Investigations, Senior Superintendent, Leslie James told Caribbean News Desk that Blue and the other unidentified accomplice met their death during an exchange of gunfire.

He said police responded to a report of a robbery and a shootout ensued.

The alleged robbery occurred at Lahago Store, on the northern side of the Montrose Public Road.

Preliminary reports are that the owner was also shot and injured.

In the shooting of Grant, the facts of the case are that a number of boys was sitting under a shed in a yard on Caesar Street, Agricola when three uniformed police entered the yard and shot Grant and 20-year old Romel Bollers.

The killing of Grant and shooting injury of Bollers had sparked widespread outcry and condemnation by Agricolans, human rights activists and the political opposition. Back then unrest on the Agricola Public Road had included the burning of tyres, stoning of police and the robbery of innocent persons who were caught up in a traffic jam.
