San Juan, Nov 26 (EFE).- The U.S. Coast Guard rescued six boaters after their vessel ran aground on the rocks just off Coral Bay in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands.

Coast Guard personnel in the San Juan office received an emergency radio call from the group on Monday night asking for help, an official confirmed to Efe.

A rescue crew went to the area to find the boaters, all of them U.S. citizens, and they were transported to land in a helicopter.

The 49-foot vessel was hard aground on the rocks, battered by six-to-seven-foot waves from the stern.

Five of the boaters were safely transferred to National Park Service Rangers in St. John, while one who had a foot injury was transported to an airport in St. Thomas to receive medical assistance.
