San Juan, Nov 18 (EFE).- A Trinidad and Tobago trade mission travels this week to three French overseas territories in the Caribbean to bolster business ties.

The delegates have already scored some successes in Martinique, the National Export Facilitation Organization said Tuesday in a statement.

“The first exporter obtained an immediate order averaging $2,500 and the second exporter secured a follow-up order from a previous customer to be filled in the first quarter of 2015 averaging $8,500,” the organization said.

After Martinique, the trade mission will continue on to Guadeloupe and French Guiana.

The 10 companies participating in the mission represent sectors such as Food and Beverage; Construction Materials; Creative Industries; Printing & Packaging; Wood and Wood Products; Cleaning Chemicals and Personal Care Products.

The aggregate population of the three French territories is comparable to the total population of Trinidad and Tobago, according to the organization.

“The French Caribbean is seen as an attractive market for Trinidad and Tobago’s exports given our advantage in terms of proximity, competitive freight rates, capacity, pricing and product quality,” the statement said. EFE
