The driver of a motor car narrowly escaped death or serious injury early Saturday morning when he veered off the East Bank Demerara Public Road and slammed into a section of an unfinished concrete house that seconds after fell on the vehicle.

The incident occurred that shortly before 5 AM, they heard a loud noise and when they looked outside they saw a cloud of smoke.

The driver has been taken into police custody. His identity has not been released, but the car number is PJJ 1679.

Owner of the house, Debbie Khaladeen told Demerara Waves Online News that the driver refused to speak with her and other family members, but instead was more pre-occupied with collecting items from the vehicle.

They claimed that when they went to the Grove Police Station, the driver was showing them his middle finger in a sly manner.
