The body of the nude woman that washed up on the Kitty Foreshore, Georgetown Wednesday afternoon has been identified and investigators have so far ruled out foul play, a senior police officer said Thursday.

After hearing that a woman’s body was found near the seawall, her brother identified her as 45-year old Sharon Forde of West Ruimveldt, the police officer said.

Police have so far ruled out foul play because there are no visible marks of violence. Although the body was naked, investigators were working on the theory that the woman was bathing.

Her brother, who lives at Diamond, East Bank Demerara, reportedly told investigators that the mother of five children was mentally ill after she and her husband broke up. She often walked the road aimlessly due to her mental condition.

The woman was reportedly taken by her brother to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation on August 7 and she was treated and sent away.
