Police on Tuesday arrested two men who attacked and robbed a businesswoman of an undisclosed sum of cash in her East Coast Demerara shop.

Investigators said the bandits, one of whom was armed with a gun, changed vehicles in a bid to elude a police dragnet but they were arrested on Mandela Avenue. “They have been positively identified and are in police custody,” the police force said in a statement.

Police said that about 1 PM, businesswoman, 36-year old Oma Persaud, was in her shop at Strathspey when she was attacked by two men. “The men held her at gunpoint and took away an undisclosed sum of cash and escaped in a waiting motor car,” Police Force spokesman, Ivelaw Whittaker said in a statement.
