MURDER ACCUSED: Orin Jerrick

The man, who allegedly stabbed to death a minibus driver at the Plaisance bus park because he objected to him urinating on his vehicle’s wheel, was Wednesday arraigned on a murder charge.

The charge was read to Orin Jerrick of Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara by Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

Jerrick was not required to plea to the indictable charge that states that he murdered Gavin Fiffee on July 31, 2014.

The accused was remanded to prison until August 22 when he will appear before City Magistrate, Judy Latchman for report and fixture.

Defence Lawyer, Pamela Dos Santos told the court that Jerrick was severely injured and that a medical report would be produced and witnesses would testify to prove his case. She said Jerric was stabbed to his head, neck and above an eye.

The prosecution’s case is that about 5:45 PM, Fiffee was at his bus at the Plaisance bus park when he saw and objected to Jerrick urinating on his bus. During an argument, according to the prosecution, Jerrick pulled out a knife and stabbed Fiffee on his right side chest. He was rushed to a city hospital where he died while undergoing emergency surgery.
