Boy drowns at Emancipation Day outing in Linden

A group of persons gathered around Kassel Harlequin shortly after he was taken out of the Katapuli Creek, Bucktown, Linden.

Emancipation Day activities in a section of Linden were marred by the drowning of a nine-year old boy at a creek.

Kassel Harlequin and his family had gone on an outing at the Blue Lake, Block 22. There, he and others decided to go in the waterway when tragedy struck.

The details of the circumstances surrounding the incident that occurred shortly after 4 PM were not immediately known.

The lad was taken out of the water, initial efforts made to revive him and he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
