An ex fireman was Monday convicted and jailed for feloniously wounding one of his colleagues more than one year ago.

Twenty-four year old Dellon Harris of 91 Best Road, West Coast Demerara was found guilty and sentenced to 48 months by City Magistrate, Faith Mc Gust.

Ten witnesses testified in the case against him for wounding Cedrick Bradshaw on January 1, 2013 with intent to maim, disfigure or cause him bodily harm.

The prosecution’s facts were that Harris and Bradshaw were members of the Guyana Fire Service.

It was on New Year’s Day 2013 that Bradshaw was on duty at the Central Fire Station when Harris and a number of colleague fire fighters went to their place of employ and call other colleagues on the phone to wish them Happy New Year. The prosecutor added that it was then that Harris and Bradshaw exchanged words and called each other foul names.

The prosecution further alleged that Harris then cuffed Bradshaw several times to his face and other parts of his body. In the process, four of Bradshaw’s front teeth.

Harris is no longer a fire fighter because he has been absent from duty ever since the incident.
