Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU) agents on Monday arrested three persons, including one woman, in connection with the discovery of a large quantity of cocaine, marijuana and cash at two separate locations.

The busts were made at two houses at Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara, south of the Diamond Housing Scheme. Two men were arrested in connection with the marijuana haul of 1,227 kilogrammes. That illicit substance was said to have originated from Jamaica.  In the past, there has been a thriving marijuana-for-cocaine barter between Jamaica and Guyana.

The source said over GUY$1 million and 4.3 kilogrammes of cocaine were seized at the other location. A woman has been arrested in connection with that bust.

A CANU source said the two busts were unrelated.
