He was not required to plea to the indictable charges and he refused bail and remanded to prison until July 2, 2014 when he would appear in the Whim Magistrates’ Court.

He was charged separately with driving motor car, PPP 5842, at Phillipi in a manner that caused the death of  19-year old Tabitha Latoya Bagot, 16-yearold  Malikia Juanita Bagot, 16 and their three-year old niece Shamaine Cort.

Persaud pleaded not guilty to the summary charges: three counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident, three counts of failing to render assistance, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Facts of the driving under the influence of alcohol charge state that he exceeded the legal limit of 35 micrograms, a breathalyser test having measured that he had consumed 68 micrograms.
