Man arraigned for killing wife in bucket

The man who allegedly murdered his wife by strangling and suffocating her in a bucket of water at their Friendship , East Bank Demerara home, was arrainged Friday afternoon.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry to answer the indictable charge was Vindra Siriram. He is accused of murdering his common-law wife, Shellyann Persaud, between June 9 and 10.

Siriram, who is represented by Attorney-at-Law, Keavon Bess, was remanded to prison until July 4, 2014. 

Police Prosecutor Mangru asked for three weeks to complete the investigation. Shortly after Siriram’s arrest, police said he confessed to committing the act following an argument in which she had accused him of being unfaithful.

The prosecution intends to call nine witnesses.
