One of the Guyanese, seriously injured in a vehicular accident in neighbouring Suriname earlier this week, was flown home on Wednesday and admitted to a city hospital, sources said.

Vanessa Foo was said to be in serious condition, having sustained head injuries and a broken thigh bone.

She was accompanied to the Georgetown Public Hospital by her husband, Kevin Foo, who was driving the vehicle that totaled in the mishap on May 26 at Wageningen.

Kevin, who is a manager at the Vreed-en-Hoop branch of the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI), was not admitted because his injuries were not that serious.

Surinamese authorities said three of the four women, who were in the Toyota Landcruiser, were seriously injured. Their identities have not been released.

Authorities said the vehicle’s steering might have developed problems, resulting in the driver losing control and toppling several times.
