Former South American beauty queen, Carolan Lynch was Monday morning again freed of the charge of a murder of her wealthy husband, Farouk Razac, seven years ago.

The decision to discharge the case was made at the Georgetown Magistrates Court after it was found there was insufficient evidence for her to face trial by a judge and jury.

Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry said the prosecution failed to establish a case against Lynch, after listening to arguments and the testimonies of 17 witnesses for several weeks now.

Lynch was accused of murdering 44-year old Farouk Razac, a wealthy businessman, on May 7,2007 at their Bel Air Park home. The then Magistrate, Gordon Gilhuys had discharged the case in 2008 and freed Lynch due to an absence of enough evidence. Two years later the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Shalimar Hack had recommended that a fresh murder charge be reinstituted.

At this second Preliminary Inquiry, Lynch’s daughter and niece, Melissa Watson, as well as her personal trainer, Karan Dutt, testified about the events in the hours leading up to the discovery of Lynch’s body in his home. Her daughter said she, her mother and Watson had left to take her to school. Dutt recalled making arrangements on the phone with Lynch to hold a training session.

Defence Lawyer, Latchmie Rahamat noted that the handyman had had access to the house but he was never charged. She said based on the material presented, there was not even any circumstantial evidence to prove that Lynch committed the act.
