Taxi service owner, driver on malicious wounding charges

The owner of a taxi service and his driver were Thursday on charges of unlawfully wounding each other.

Police accused the owner of Crown Taxi Service, Nawaab Abdul of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Mark Allen on March 5 at 317 East Street, Georgetown. Abdul,48, was placed on GUY$40,000 bail and Allen was required to lodge GUY$60,000 surety when they appeared before City Magistrate, Ann Mc Lennan.

Allen,32, of 141 D’Andrade Street, Newtown, Kitty, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to two charges of unlawfully wounding Abdul. The driver was also charged with damaging one pair of spectacles valued GUY$45,000 belonging to Abdul.

Police prosecutor Dinero Jones did not oppose bail. He said the incidents were as a result of a disagreement on March 4.

Abdul is represented by Attorney-at-Law, Paul Braam and Allen is represented by Attorney-at-Law, Kendace Rodney.
