A cane harvester chopped his wife at their Buxton residence before fleeing to a cane-field where he committed suicide, police sources said.

The dead man has been identified as Dexter “Wissy” Yaw. Investigators said his lifeless body was found Wednesday afternoon in a cane field aback Buxton with a bottle of poison next to it.

The man escaped after police responded to a report by his wife, 40-year old Yonette Yaw, that he chopped her on one of her hands and breasts.

The incident occurred at their home, 74 Sideline Dam, Buxton (south of the Railway Embankment).

The two were together for 21 years.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
