Three young men were Monday arraigned on charges of robbing a store of more than GUY$8 million worth of cellular phones and other items.

Nineteen-year old Darien Best, Morris Gibson, 21, and  20-year old Joel Mendonca pleaded not guilty to the charge of being armed with a gun they robbed Mohanlall Narine of a quantity of mobile phones valued GUY$8.19 M. The phones were the property if Golyn and Sons.

They also pleaded not guilty to robbing Narine of one Samsung Galaxy cellular phone and one gold and diamond ring, both with a value of GUY$630,000.

They were refused bail and remanded to prison until February 29.

The robbery allegedly occurred on January 24.

The prosecutor’s case is that Gibson and Mendonca entered the store and pretended to be customers while Best went in with a gun and pointed it to the clerk while demanding the items.

The court was told that the items were placed in a haversack and the men fled the area in a waiting car on Robb and King Streets.

Police said they later caught Best at Eccles with the same haversack in his possession.

Gibson’s Defence Lawyer, Lyndon Amsterdam said his client had gone to purchase a fan instead of a phone. He queried whether being at the scene of a crime made him an accomplice.
