A man allegedly involved in an ice-pick robbery was Monday granted GUY$150,000 bail when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry also ordered that Christopher Gonsalves return to court on February 7.

Gonsalves of 291 Independence Boulevard, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the armed robbery charge. He is accused of stabbing Sean Persaud on January 15 at Robb Street in the process of robbing him of one gold chain valued at GUY$100,000.

Gonsalves was said to be in the company of another man when he committed the act on Persaud who was walking with his wife.

Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant told the court that the accused held the Persauds at ice-pick point and stabbed and robbed the husband before escaping.

Grant’s objection to bail based on the fact that the defendant has prior matters and was charged several times previously was overruled.
