A police constable was Saturday placed under close arrest after he accidentally shot a fellow policeman at the Fort Wellington Police Station.

Detective Constable 19182 Andel Doris, who was also on duty at the Station, to his legs. He has been admitted to the Fort Wellington Hospital for medical treatment.

“The other rank has been placed under close arrest as investigations in the matter continue,” the police force said in a statement.

Investigators were told that about 2:15 PM, the constable, who was on duty at the enquiries office, was armed with a .38 revolver. A force spokesman said the constable was in the process of taking off the firearm when a round was accidentally discharged.

Doris, who was also on duty at the station, was struck to his legs.
