Annandale man on bail for alleged bogus car deal

An 18-year old man was Friday granted GUY$300,00 bail for allegedly obtaining money under false pretence for the procurement of three motor cars.

Police accuse Raphael Mohammed of of 52 Annandale Housing Scheme of obtaining GUY$650,000 from Amil Yusuff, GUY$500,000 from John Jones and GUY$580,000 from Sherwin Wright by falsely pretending to be in possession of three motor cars.

He pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

Mohammed allegedly committed the offence on December 2,4 and 6 at Georgetown.

Police Prosecutor, Bharat Mangru did not oppose bail but asked that it be substantial and that the defendant must lodge his passport.

The matter comes up in court again on January 31, 2014.
