A prisoner escaped from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) late Saturday afternoon.

Several shots were fired at the man, 19-year old Edgar Blackman of 9A TucVille, Georgetown, damaging glass windows near the pharmacy. The man scaled the East Street fence and escaped unhurt. Police said he was receiving treatment while under guard pending investigations into robbery under arms.

There are different accounts about what happened. One was that the policeman, who was guarding Blackman, fell asleep.

Another is that he was just discharged and ostensibly went to the washroom when he fled the ward to freedom.
