WANTED: Brian

A man is wanted for questioning about the murder of hotelier Joseph Alexander Jagdeo at South Central Hotel, police said.

The suspect has been identified as 19-year old Brian “Big Foot” Leitch of Lot 2118 Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara.

Police assured that “all information will be treated with strict confidence.”

Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Leitch is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 225-8196, 226-7065, 227-1149, 225-6941, 911 or the nearest police station.

The body of 59-year o Jagdeo was found under a bed in one of his hotel’s rooms by an employee.

Police said Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh found that Jagdeo died as a result of asphyxia due to manual strangulation. His wife said his hands and mouth and nose were tied with cloth.
The keys to Room 10 in which his body was found were on the bed, prompting a theory that the perpetrators locked the door and threw the keys over the wall.

He had not been seen for several hours by employees and ‘permanent’ occupants of the hotel.
