Lethem boy falls off Region Nine Council vehicle and dies

A seven year old boy died on Sunday in Lethem when he fell off a pickup that belongs to the Region Nine administration, according to well-placed sources.

The lad’s name has been given as Jetley Brown, a student of Arapaima Primary School. He is the son of Police Corporal, Jesse Brown of Lethem.

Usually reliable sources said that the driver was loaned the vehicle to transport his household effects from the Amerindian Hostel where he had bee residing to Beverley Hills, a building also located at Lethem.

However, allegedly without permission, he used the vehicle to go on a picnic to Manari, about seven miles from Lethem.  The occupants included the driver, his family, close friends and children.

Sources said tragedy struck while they were returning to the southern border township. The child fell out of the vehicle and was rushed to the Lethem Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
