Ten rounds oif assault rifle ammunition have been found at the Guyana Defebec Force’s (GDF) but the army is yet to confirm whether they were those that went missing.

Chief of Staff Brigadier Mark Phillips said the rounds would have to be compared with existing batches to confirm whether they were those the 7.62 x 39mm rounds that went missing from the Guard Room of the Colonel John Clarke Military School at Tacama, Upper Berbice River.

Phillips said he was informed about the discovery of 10 rounds in a report that was delivered to him on Tuesday.

He said no one has been arrested but no one was being allowed toe leave Tacama because the probe was continuing.

He could not give a time frame when the investigation would be completed.

The GDF on October 24 first said that the ammunition was missing after a daily newspaper had reported that more than 400 rounds had disappeared.

A separate Board of Inquiry has been established to report on any breaches of the Standing Operating Procedures for the handling and accounting for ammunition at that training location
